Walkerville joins Netball SA’S Premier league

Walkerville Netball Club (WNC/The Cats) is delighted to announce that it has been granted a license to compete in The Hospital Research Foundation Group (THRFG) Premier League from the 2026 season.

THRFG Premier League is the pinnacle of state-based netball competition in South Australia and has a proven track record of developing elite athletes, coaches and officials.

WNC will field teams in both the Premier Division and Reserves Division.

Club background

Founded in 2010 by five country netballers, WNC started out with just two senior teams and 16 registered players. Over the last 15 years, it has grown to become the equal-largest club in the Adelaide Metropolitan Netball Division, with over 450 players currently representing the Club.

Owing to its humble beginnings, The Cats and its members are renowned for their country heart and community-first values. The Club has held and maintained strong ties to regional South Australia throughout its history.

In recent years, WNC has experienced immense success both on and off the court. The Club has won premierships from juniors through to AMND League, including back-to-back undefeated premiership-winning seasons in AMND League in 2023 and 2024. WNC’s AMND League team maintains a 100% winning record in the 2025 season as it chases a remarkable third straight undefeated campaign.

The Club’s rapid growth and success have been recognised in the past two years, claiming the SA Community Club Excellence Award in both 2023 and 2024.

“I am beyond proud that Walkerville Netball Club has been promoted to the Premier League.

It’s been a privilege to have watched this club grow so much over 15 short years. Being granted a Premier League license is reward for the incredible hard work and effort put in over the years by our amazing volunteers, players and families.

Countless hours of game time, trainings, match day planning and behind-the-scenes organisation have gone into helping us reach where we find ourselves today and the years ahead. For that, the WNC Committee and I cannot thank our members enough.

Being promoted to the Premier League provides us with invaluable opportunities to continue to grow across all levels and aspects of our Club, but we pride ourselves on still being the same grassroots club we’ve always been. Passion, community and hard work will always be the foundations of WNC.

We’re excited for what next year holds as we take the next big step in our Club’s history. Bring on 2026!”
